Wow can't believe I only just discovered this forum!

They've been working on it for several months, but only in the last week have they started taking it down.

Each picture was roughly taken a day apart, so it's slow going.

Thank you and welcome to the forum SkyMatt!

That's a neat view you've got of this project, do keep us updated as construction goes along.

Welcome SkyMatt and thanks for your pictures!

I was unaware that they were actually demolishing the building. I guess that they will just be keeping the facade on Dowd Street. Not really a huge loss considering how great this project looks!

Obviously it would have been great if they kept the whole building. I really love these early 20th century red bricked factories, usually 5-6 floors high.

I actually would have preferred a scenario where they would have built extra floors on the heritage buildings (like they did with two neighbouring buildings) and built the tower on the large parkinglot right next to it.

BUT I like this project as is too. Let's hope the other 3 karl Fischer projects (Victoire, TOM, Point zero) get going soon.

Strange new rendering scooped up by mtlmtl on mtlurb. I notice three departures from the original design:

a)The tower is widened to Bleury stret
b)The 5 storey brick building has a floor added on top instead of being used as a podium.
c)I count 19 floors instead of 17.

Interesting. However, their website still has the rendering we have seen before and they still refer to a 17 strorey building. Let's see if they modify it.

Le troisième...what went wrong?

Me too. they rock. I used to tour the almost abandoned area adjacent to the Dow planetarium back in the late eighties and again in the late nineties. It is great to see renewal, but I lament the loss of these old chestnuts.

Here are a few new renders for 400 Dowd courtesy of Karl Fischer. Note that we are now up to 20 floors from 17.

Shitty picture I took yesterday showing virtually no change for this project.

A good one in a great spot. This area will be hot in a decade.
