I was never really a fan of the original radome enclosure. It was to fat and didn't fit the building. It looks great without it.
It should be counted.

To all the men and women who helped build this tower, my hat goes off to you! Good job!

If only I would've had on NBC instead of Good Morning America; they only showed a brief clip of JUST AFTER the top was raised...

Guidebooks are guidebooks. They say all sorts of stupid things. Real New Yorkers will know what happened here. Real New Yorkers and informed people. Rubes can have their guidebook "facts".

OTHERWISE.

I'm so happy the building is topped out. It's surreal. I'm going to walk over to 6th at lunch and take in a view I haven't had in too long - Empire State to the left and it's taller, younger cousin, WTC, on the right.

Of course they will. Just like Americans have always been lied to about the facts of their history. But a lie is never true by definition.

Where is 1,776' measured from. The lobby to the beacon or above the beacon at the top. They said today's lift was 75' tall.

it's really the building that matters, and it is a nice building. The antenna on the rooftop of the original wasn't all that spectacular either, but this building will be beautiful once it is complete.

I'm starting to like that they scrapped the radome. During the day your eye will be drawn to the building itself and it's reflective cladding , during the night you'll be drawn to the lighting of the mast.

^ I agree. I'm glad I've been able to check up on the progress throughout today.

So here's a question..... When is the first time the beacon will be tested? Also when will we see the base lit?

Didn't someone take video of them testing the beacon when it was still on the ground? So hopefully we'll see it lit soon.

The beacon has been on every night its been on the roof. Or something that's near or attached to the beacon. It doesn't look that bright. Not sure if all the hook ups are still there though at the top top.
