Potts Point
Oldest high density area in Australia, was building apartments back in the 1930s. And is just across the Royal Botanical Gardens from the city.

Pyrmont
Another high density district near the city. Has a history as an industrial area with a working class residential past. The industrial buildings have been replaced in recent years.

Surry Hills
Has a reputation as a hip artistic area. Is just south of the city, and is predominately 19th century terraces. And is also quite similar to the inner city areas you will find in Melbourne.
