Isn't how many people a metro has determine how much money they get for projects, etc.?

Yes it is, and they provide numbers for the overall DFW metro area.

All of the very large metro cities that are spread out, ie, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, San Fran, Miami, etc also are broken down like DFW.

Here is the link to the US Census Bureau with the charts.

Yup pretty common for large metros.

X-posting this from the Austin subforum. I'm pretty disappointed that they're cheaping out and going with a bland generic glass box. This will feature prominently in our skyline and block views of the One American Center. I would expect something better than this.

I know what you mean, Syndic, in that it does feel underwhelming when one considers what could have been built, but I actually also like it and think its simplicity could give it some added timelessness.

City Council approved the rezoning of the Broadmoor parcel late last night. This clears the way for buildings up to 360 feet tall.

Broadmoor rezoning clears way for new mega-development next to Domain; Site pitched to Amazon for HQ2

By Will Anderson – Digital Editor, Austin Business Journal
Jun 29, 2018, 10:11am CDT Updated 3 hours ago

The fate of Broadmoor is a little clearer now. But only a little.

Owner Brandywine Realty Trust now has a green light from Austin to proceed with its plan to massively redevelop the 66-acre parcel just east of The Domain, which is home to a major IBM Corp. campus and has been floated as a potential HQ2 site for Amazon.

Austin City Council on Thursday night gave final approval to rezone the area for higher-density construction. Brandywine, which brought the Broadmoor tract from IBM in 2015, said Thursday it intends to push ahead with its plans for a "mixed-use, transit-oriented and highly-amenitized urban environment."

The site is across the street from The Domain — known as Austin's second downtown — and is down the street from land that may host a Major League Soccer stadium.

Loving the pics especially that skyline panorama shot! Man is that smoking! Can't wait to hear what will be built at the Broadmoor site near Domain!

This is crap for a city like Austin.

Exactly.

Gotta give a props to Aspen Heights West Campus, though. That façade is beautiful. We need more big towers that are as creative and interesting at that. Gensler, go hire that architect!

demolition permit hearing for properties at 5th and Lavaca (301 W 5th along with 303, and 305) scheduled for Monday, 23 July 2018. they are drilling down inside for samples. am surprised this didn't include the space at 307 W 5th so all the properties up to the Plaza Lofts would be developed together
