Saw this one in the Commercial Appeal

1990 - The Pyramid under construction in an April 1990 photograph. One of the community's most praised and criticized projects, it opened November 9, 1991. The $65 million facility drew high marks at the time, but was shuttered for all practical purposes just 13 years later. Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band performed what was billed as the building's farewell concert in 2007.

I just went through all 17 pages of this thread and it seems to me like Memphis is growing quite a bit. I like the new park next to the river and how the pyramid will come back to life.

I live no where near Memphis but it's good to see that the recession is not affecting that city

Thanks for positive feedback, patriotizzy. Memphis has seen a rough & tumble 30 year economic cycle, but we remain a slow growth metro poised for massive future expansion.

Wharton: 55 Miles of Bike Lanes Coming
ANDY MEEK | The Daily News

Wharton’s plans call for new bike lanes and facilities throughout the city, and the first 55 miles especially target South Memphis, Midtown, Downtown and the University of Memphis area. However, it’s only the first step of a bigger investment that will ultimately include many more miles of bike lanes that connect even more of the city.

Everything looks good. The renderings for the redevelopment of the Pinch District also look good. I was hoping they wouldn't stick the Bass Pro logo on the side of the Pyramid though.

Sounds good. Any idea on when construction will start?

The Sofo area has a lot of potential...especially areas around 4th and Vance near Foote Homes. They're are several vacant lots and buildings that need to be redeveloped.

The Royal Phoenix group are currently securing financing. Cleaborne & Foote Homes are about to be demolished (Memphis' last 2 public housing projects). That area won't even be recognizable in 10 years.

There's something worrisome about naming a public street 'Bass Pro Blvd' - something soulless and shameless. My old home town of Peoria is also getting a BPS and they are doing the exact same thing with the new street, naming it Bass Pro Blvd. Lame. What ever happened to dignity?
