Toronto, you're doing it wrong.

27% plus the 6% undecided is pretty much the 34% of the front-runner.

The three way race at the top is Rob's way in. Make it a two person race and he's not a rounding error away from another term.

Not sure if this is how to win an election against Ford.

I can only conclude that roughly 27% of my fellow Torontonians have crania crammed full of rotten banana peels, wet corrugated cardboard, and abused anvils.

I know it should seem shocking and surprising, but you guys don't really get out of the house very much if you don't think there's a sizable number of idiot, single-issue voters in every election.

I'm not sure. Ford has his minimum base and that isn't really changing. Very few people (if any) who would entertain voting for Chow would switch to Ford for any reason. To Tory, if anyone.

If all the non-Ford candidates are Plateau-style types who want to ban cars and non-green roofs, then I have no problem imagining that RoFo could get re-elected.

Or if they could be construed that way, absolutely.

The most popular candidate (Olivia Chow) is more or less that. However she has the name recognition. The other major candidate (John Tory) is a fiscal conservative and sane, albeit somewhat wishy-washy.

The previous mayor of Toronto was VERY left-wing. And did in fact get the City to adopt green-roof bylaws and was panned by Ford for the "war on the car". He was projected to win the previous election had he decided to run, but who knows. Instead we ended up with a terrible former liberal MPP and the uninspiring (albeit nice) deputy-mayor of Toronto.

In his speech, he said "The City of Torontable".

I think it would be better if he just focuses on recovering. The stress of being mayor will probably undermine his efforts to recover from substance abuse.

I want Ford to get re-elected more than just about anything in the world right now.
