Well with all the gossip about Comcast III , if they built another tower along side and painted it pink ..... maybe
CTC would go back to straight and plum ......

That would be a US record, yet Philadelphia already has held a more impressive title. Tallest building in the WORLD. Only three US cities can claim that, philly being one of them. Not a city comparison , just facts.

Skyscrapers in Rittenhouse would make the skyline look larger. NIMBYs wouldn't allow that to happen. Personally, I think skyscrapers north of the Convention Center south of Vine would probably have the biggest impact at making the skyline "bigger," but that's just me.

It's interesting how grand a city can look via aerials and at the right angle and perspective. The photo set that summersm343 posted really makes Philly look ubiquitous and quite monolithic. Excellent density, integration of architecture spanning the decades, and with plenty of in your face street integration. Blends quite nicely to show a multi-faceted, multi-cultured city that brings the best of urbanism all together, and is a pinnacle of America's urban fabric.

I'm guessing they study these things, but wouldn't rittenhouse skyscrapers potentially cripple the trolleys since there's no MFL stop between 15 and 30th? To a healthy person 15th to rittenhouse is no big deal, but I'd think that a lot would xfer to trolleys to 19th.

Anyway does the new column signify anything, or are they still dealing with faulty steel that will require partial disassembly?

If you look at the photo russbaseball posted [#5663] its not just a new collumn. They've added steel for the last bay of the sky lobby, and have stubbs going above the roof all the way across. Also extra crossbracing. Looks like they are ready to start framing the cooling towers.

Regardless of height, it would be very funny if the new Comcast tower was called "Comcast Innovation Center"

Good find! I also thought Comcast should of done a documentary of the construction of this building and the different technologies employed like the glass curtain embedded with silver to make it more energy efficient, etc. And, it would of reminded me of the build it bigger programming on a competing channel. lol.

Could that possibly be the reason why it's taking so long for any progress to get done?

"Rittenhouse skyscrapers", do you mean new high-rises along west Market St? And how would they effect the trolleys that run under Market St?

Market Street West is not part of the Rittenhouse neighborhood. It is the Southern border of Logan Square.
