They are indeed digging and installing pilings for shoring/excavation. It's possible they only need to excavate part of the site.

No way this gets done in 14 months, even considering it was downsized.

Steel

A couple more pics from 19th Street through the fence. The trusses are clearly going to be a feature in the entrance to the residential portion of the new building. Quite cool!

Why does it look like it is just sitting there?

Under construction is good but do we know what it will look like? Also, the final, official height?

On a related note, I think this has been mentioned before and I agree. When a project gets updated, it would be nice to see the original versions saved on the first post. Summers, is it possible, when a project changes, that the new renderings are added to the first post rather than replacing the original version?

DISCLAIMER: I genuinely appreciate all work you do on this page Summers. I'm not going to become a moderator any time so definitely take my "request" with a huge grain of salt. This isn't a big deal either way.

It is hanging from the steel "pins" seen in the last photo in post 644. You can see it mounted in the first photo in post 645. The wood blocks are most likely to support the weight while the rest of the structure is completed and will then be removed.

So we will have a crane here, 1911, 3675 Market, East Market, HUP tower, the other Penn Medicine building, W hotel, CCP building and hopefully the old PHA HQ site on chestnut concurrently. Did I miss any?

They won't end up being that tall, but Lincoln Square and 2400 Market as well.

Well...not sure all concurrently. While many of the projects you identified are already u/c (this project, East Market, 3675 Market, new Penn Medicine building, and the W/Element), others are not that quite far along.

HUP Tower - what's this?
CCP Building - has that started?
PHA HQ - has that even been awarded?

2400 Market crane will be down before the end of the year; Lincoln Square probably Q1 2018.

-HUP Tower is the "Penn Medicine Center for Healthcare Technology", which has been under construction since the installation of cassions back in February.

-The CCP building is currently undergoing site prep. A smaller building on site is being (partially?) demolished.

-Site prep is occurring at the new PHA headquarters. I live about a half mile from the site, so I have been seeing them digging for the past two-three weeks.

I think all of these buildings should have cranes in time to add to this period of simultaneous cranes in the sky.

Can anyone explain how this has started construction w/o a new CDR decision? It's my understanding that the last CDR application envisioned a vastly different structure.

I tried to go with sure thing projects- so no SLS. Forgot about the View and 1324 N. Broad- both appear to be moving forward. We have heard little on Ucity square, Chinatown or 1300 fairmount recently so I'm skeptical until we see some permits or site activity.
