Wow. I don't know if it's your photography skills, or the beauty of the area, or both, but that was an absolutely beautiful tour.

Well, the city itself is a bit too touristy for my taste, but, rent's cheap, Matsumoto's nearby and the ocean's 5 minutes away. Commuting to school + work is a b*tch though

Are you in Honolulu?

An high rise entity in paradise. Wonderful pics Jai (especially the last one). I've never been, and these pics just added to my desire to visit. Thanks for sharing them.

Beautiful pictures! Are you using a filter, or is the sky that blue in the middle of the Pacific? Must be the clean air.

Most of them are just taken with a UV Filter, but a couple with a polarized filter as well

But the sky really is that blue here Lack of smog does wonders

Had a great week on O'ahu. I enjoyed the island much. We drove around it twice during that time. Did all the typical tourist stuff. Haunama Bay, Polynesian Cultural Center, Dole, North Shore, Waikiki etc. Couple items I noted:
1. North Shore and the east side of the island are fairly free of major development or resort development. In fact while I was there the Governor announced the State was going to purchase the Turtle Bay Resort on the north shore, to limit further development. The east side of the island in particular seemed to be where the real Hawaiians/Polynesians were......is this true?
2. Honolulu, has some great areas and some really run down areas, I suppose as any major city would. The number of highrises is impressive, but you never feel like the city is overly developed or dense. I could imagine a ton of highrise growth in Honolulu. Not just the tourist/hotel industry, but with the restrictive growth on the rest of the island, and the heavy asian influence in the city, there could be tremendous growth for highrise construction. I'd imagine Vancouver type growth. Not sure if the economics would allow for it, but higher density residential construction could help to preserve the rest of the island.
I took some pix as well, I'll post soon....
