He is by all accounts a really good guy.

Not too far from where I live, he contributed a hefty chunk of his own money to a new two-rink arena complex this is slated to open this fall I believe. There aren't to my knowledge too many NHLers who do this in the communities that made them what they are.

Wow... Alfredsson is leaving Ottawa!

He will most likely sign with Detroit.

Fuck you Alfredsson. I hope you realize how much of a marginal player you will be in a place like Detroit. A team that arguably has LESS chance of a cup than Ottawa. Just ask Iginla how well the old "try to get a cup!!" worked out for him.

Edit: that being said, $5.5 possible. Holy christ. Maybe I'd whore myself out for that kinda dough, too.

Smart pickup for the Oil in Ferrence. He was always a hard-worker in Calgary but never got his skill level up there. His years in Boston have completely transformed him.

Now that it's finally occurred to someone that defense matters, I think Edmonton might finally have their rebuild happening. Gonna be a scary team soon.

Ah, the Toronto media is hilarious.

TSN had Komisarek listed in their "top 10 UFAs" this morning. He just signed for $700,000.

Now the "OMG BOZAK IS THE NEXT CROSBY" masturbation session resumes. Don't forget, they're also going to sign Clarkson and Horton (and Weiss).

Newfoundlander Ryane Clowe New Jersey bound

Quote:
Ryane Clowe’s free-agent experience didn’t last long.

The Fermeuse-born, Mount Pearl-raised Clowe signed a five-year contract with the New Jersey Devils less than an hour after the opening of the National Hockey League’s unrestricted free agent derby.

According to reports, the deal is worth $24.25 million in total, or $4.85 million annually.

Man... so jealous of Ottawa! They got the best coach in the NHL and one of the best GM.

Man it's like there's been all this pent up trade anxiety all season that's being let loose in one day.

The Leafs sign Clarkson to a 7-year $36 million contract. Like the player, not so sure I like the contract. Also sign Bozak to four years at $21 million, definitely don't like the player or the contract.

Oh come on. Tyler Bozak is clearly worth over $4 million per season.
