Worst Canadian

It's been a rough year for our national image. Besides the obvious candidates such as Rob Ford and Justin Bieber who would you nominate as being the most embarrassing Canadian export?

For fun I've included a poll of the obvious contenders.

What about that senator douchebag? The one that owns the strip club? I forget his name, looks and seems like a total goof though.

Edit: Just remembered his name, Patrick Brazeau..

You can't make a list like this without including Kevin O'Leary and his outrageous comments.

Thanks Boris I knew I was forgetting someone. Could also throw Don Cherry in there to round off the CBC contingent.
But yes Kevin O'Leary = scum of the earth.

Bieber has an image to maintain to stay relevant and Ford is just a spoil child that happens to be a mayor. Pretty weak list to choose from, IMHO.

i have met a few terrible ones over here, including one little red-faced party ruiner who, after learning my girlfriend and i were from montreal, informed us that "we can be friends now but when hockey season starts, i'll break a glass over your head."

he was wearing a t-shirt that said "canada" because of course he was.

i stood there in a tenement neighborhood of pristina, kosovo, surrounded by americans, albanians, koreans, and austrians who had no idea what to make of this sudden and intense burst of intra-canadian anger. finally and after a long pause, i asked him "have you learned nothing from this place?"

evil politicians or disgraceful public figures don't matter to much to me. every place has those. i really think "worst canadian ever" in social situations, when meeting other canadians outside of canada.

I don't even understand why he is on what is arguably the most liberal, left-leaning media source in Canada. He'd be much more at home on Sun News or something.

Anyway I went with Harper. Rob Ford and Bieber are just dumb fads that will soon be a thing of the past. Harper's bullshit will go on for decades, long after he's out of office.

I didn't know Ben Mulroney was an export. Does he actually have any international recognition?

And what has Michael Buble done that's so embarrassing?

Personally I'd have to go with Ford for #1. I don't see how Canada should be embarrassed by Beiber. He's only as internationally famous as he is due to getting so much popularity from places like the US. I mean, he was initially discovered and promoted by Usher wasn't he? The US made him into a star, so they're the ones that should be embarrassed.

Sure Rob may have gotten some exposure by US media, but he was elected into a prominent office by a Canadian city and did most of his embarrassing things in Canada. No one in Canada ever elected Beiber for anything. And Ford's behaviour is just as bad as Beiber's yet Ford is twice his age. People expect stupid teenagers to screw up and act like idiots. That isn't all that embarrassing really. But Ford is a middle-aged, married father. THAT is seriously embarrassing.

Among politicians, don't forget Rob Anders, MP for Calgary West.

Just his latest gaffe:

I'd also nominate Conrad Black for his interview with Rob Ford and the subsequent character assassination of a photographer. But also just because he's generally a shit bag.

I also included Ben Mulroney, not just because he's annoying and awful but because he insists on referring to the mayor as RoFo as though he were some Hollywood celebrity worthy of a name abbreviation.

So nominate someone else. The poll was just to get the ball rolling.

Hahaha how could I forget him?!! Wish I could redo the poll. I only included Michael Buble and Ben Mulroney because anytime they speak I feel the urge to shove a pencil in my ear. Super cheesy and fake. They're also kind of funny to stick in the midst of the other more notorious characters.
