I think the plaza will be named in his honour. That's just a guess. I know nothing.
Despite Ian being a friend and a role model in my eyes, I don't think a monument or statue in his name is fitting.

I think calling it the Ian Fowler Plaza would be more than fitting. There of course should be a prominent sign designating the space in his honour.

I agree with you on name the plaza after him, I guess I'm just not a huge fan of the current work, but they may look really good once finished. I read that the guy who had the granite proposal is actually the same person who did the wave for the museum.

They should actually consider naming the centre after him, BUT the naming rights will generate dollars I guess.

I agree that at the very least naming the plaza after him would be a wonderful idea.

They're running out of names to use for arenas with their names lol. I think it'll be something Irving related.

Haha I can see the Irvings winning the big, but scotiabank and bell seem to want to own all the arenas. I would prefer someone other than the Irvings, in fear that we end up with something similar to bathurst with the K.C Irving arena.. I want to see a nice big light up sign like you see with scotiabank, bell, rogers etc..

I bet you it'll be something NB-based. Maybe we'll be blessed with Centre Caisses-Populaires Centre.

Just like the one you see on highway 15! Welcome to the toilet bowl! Also please no double names, one or the other, but not both. I really hope that the best bidder wins, as long as the name fits.

The construction workers don't normally work on Saturdays do they? They are busy today on both the plaza and the building. Maybe they are trying to ramp things up before winter?

Technically, now it would be Centre UNI Centre, (re-branded from a Québec Marketing firm).

Yeah they Usually only work Monday to Friday I think they might be playing catch up a little to not fall behind.

Well, there is the Smoothie King Centre in New Orleans, home to the Pelicans of the NBA. It's right next to the Superdome. I could see it from my hotel room when I was down there earlier this year. :roll eyes:

Wikipedia

If you're into frogurt, how about the Centre Goji's Centre

I really do not want to see centre on their twice... if they do put centre on it either French or English, we don't need both.

Centre, Place, Arena - we'll be getting both regardless. Duality rules the day.

I know lol, I just find it looks weird and we are really the only place that really pushes for it and I have nothing against bilingualism, I think it's fantastic, just looks weird on anything that's not a road sign or a billboard. I mean that when it comes to names on buildings, not anything else.

I think why I don't like it is the fact that they are such similar words in both languages that it just seems dumb having both.
