Well it's pretty much all new... just a mix of modern and rebuilt traditional styles. The USAF pretty much obliterated anything that was there before 1945.

Frankfurt always got a bad rap from my family in Germany ("Frankfurt is what happens when God shits a pile of concrete" and the like). Like many cities that were rebuilt in the 1950s, 60s and 70s, there was probably a lot of ugly there. But I expect it's improved a lot since the 1980s, and these photos certainly make it look very nice.

Keep in mind the central city looked like this at the end of the war:

Actually, most old buildings in these pictures actually are old. Those half-timbered houses are reconstructions though.

I've yet to detect a cloud in any of your pictures.

Great stuff!

All pics were taken in the same day, and that seemed to be a sunny one!

We’ve already had our first 80 degree day in London (!!), so I expect that’s probably the case.

Neat pictures. We might get some of these Deutsche Bahn trains here once rail operating is open to competition. They might be interested in the HSR lines that connect Lille and Lyon to Paris, for these are profitable. Even, I believe they are regardless of maintenance costs, which is a feat in that industry.

In fact, the Italians already have an access to some national railways through Thello, a subsidiary of their national company Trenitalia, but I think it's been limited to a couple of lines connecting some southeastern France to their northern cities so far.

SNCF itself operates some railways abroad by some international subsidiaries of theirs, so I don't see why they'd still be a monopoly on the domestic market.
That will soon be illegal by our common European law, which I approve. Europe is about to turn into a gigantic liberalized rail market... That should be pretty interesting.

Anyway, the roofing steal structure above these Frankfurt platforms is in a better shape than its Parisian counterparts.
For example, I was carefully watching that huge one of the Saint-Lazare station just the other day, it looks excessively gritty.

Needs to be refurbished when there's more money to be allocated to railways.

Yeah, all of them were taken this Friday and Saturday. We actually had a relatively cool March here in Germany only to skip spring entirely.
