One of those great places that I'm privileged to live 40 mintes away from. The Captain Daniel Packer Inne, pictured in one of the photos, has been a restaurant on and off for hundreds of years. I had a great meal there last year -- highly recommended.

Great pics! Looks like you had a beautiful day to enjoy.

Mystic Seaport is one of those go-to spots for elementary school field trips among southeast Massachusetts towns, I went there 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. Throw in Groton across the bay and all the cool subs you can see there and you've got a decent spot to spend a day. The aquarium has beluga whales!

if you visit by train, don't make the careless mistake we did waiting until the last minute! the amtrak northeast corridor regional train only stops in mystic 3-5x/day both directions and it books up well ahead of time. so we rented a car in stamford and took mnrr/subway from there. it turned out that it was best to have a car, but you could do it with no car and just rent bikes.

i think there is some plans or thoughts to expanding the new haven-new london shore line east trains to mystic, westerly and perhaps providence and onward, but i dk the status of that. one problem might be that they would have to share that amtrak bridge.
