The "capping" may just be a reference to the "tower" portion of the building, but its not clear what will even open on this site. One of the entrance/exits to the PATH concourse is in this building, and is the dividing line from what has risen so far, and the tower portion of this building, which isn't showing anything yet.

Still not sure exactly how much will rise here. I'll go down today and get a look. But you can see more going up here...

They are lifting steel and toilets on the eastern portion of Two World Trade Center. Seems like they are going to be building a 2 story building here for now. Taken by me yesterday.

I believe NYGUY was correct in that progress will likely proceed on the retail podium portion of the tower for now at least. My guess would be that as soon as the core walls, elevater shafts and stairwells are formed to level one that we will see that portion of the tower capped with steel and decking possibly. As far as the steel I refered to in my earlier post, it seems it was being staged there for placement at the trans hub this past weekend.

To go one further, it's unclear if they're even going to sink the foundations outside the bathtub at this time. The 8 easternmost columns in the diagram above are outside the bathtub. What's a single story right now is from the first row of eastern columns of the tower (just to the west of the PATH stairs in the diagram) to last row of columns inside the bathtub (the ones just east of the base's emergency exit stairs shown in the diagram)

I don't know, the number of columns seem right. Whatever the case, it appears to be large enough to open for something. Some early retail perhaps. I'm just glad it's in the ground already. No demolition or foundation work to get out of the way when this thing really starts to rise.

The freedom tower is everything. This tower is really moving along, as well as tower 3. - \

I see that both 2 and 3WTC had their thread titles changed. The height parameters are different now.

Ah, finally some steel going up on this building. Here's hoping Silverstein finds tenants for this one and 3WTC soon, I'm going to need something to follow after 1WTC is completed.
