Does anyone know what's going on in the "Clean Energy" site? This on Washington Ave. and Silver Eagle Dr.
You can see the cranes doing the demolition from I-10.

One of the industrial sites is being redeveloped, but I think it's the tile place, which has shut its doors.

Another energy company picks up stakes and moves to the Woodlands. I guess this would count as a swap for Magnum Hunter:

'Urban' is how they should put that. I've also heard The Woodlands called 'urban' and it is far from it. Buyers out in that area are usually looking for land, not stacked apartments above a Starbucks.

Well, update on this:

After not hearing anything from the complex for much longer that I would've liked I finally got an answer and hopefully a truthful one at that

"The redevelopment, if ever, shouldn't happen for another 4-5 years"

THANK GOD. I've grown up in Houston and knew this could happen, but not the first year after livin inside the loop.

Capital Tower a go!

Quote:
Skanska plans at a future date to construct Capitol Tower on the former Houston Club Building site. In the meantime, construction continues on a 7-story parking garage with est completion of 4Q15. After a decision to proceed with the new tower is made, Skanska will expand the garage to ten floors and build the tower. See website and video.

It's just a shame the design of the building is so damn boring. When Mr. So and so was talking about the design of the building I almost fell asleep. Then there is the other guy saying "we started from the inside out." Exactly, because everyone can tell you didn't do diddly when it came to the exterior. The inside lobby isn't anything new. They have been making generic lobbies like that since the 80's or earlier. Its great theres a new tower but the only thing good about it is the open air meeting spot.

As I recall, they had a dozen patterns for the exterior that were all a variation of what they picked. That said, it could have been a lot worse.

But I'm getting hints the tower may not rise immediately, although the activity onsite seems to imply they are full speed ahead. We'll know soon enough.

Capital Tower will also be well hidden due to its orientation and close proximity to its neighbors. I think this tower is an excellent design; especially since I views this development as an infill project.
