The spire is not even creative.
It could have been a nice addition, but it just looks meaningless.

The Spire would still have the highest occupiable residential floor though.

Haha wow, they just tack on a generic white spire that has nothing to do with the rest of the building so the tower just barely beats Chicago Spire. Unlike some skeptics, I believe that most spires are added for aestheic rather then height-boosting purposes, but this one is a blatant height cheater.

Why can´t they just increase the number of floors. I mean they just could make the actual building higher!?

They can, but the foundation will have to be changed from existing design to accomodate the additional floors.

Thumbs down

the crown is a bit simular to OMP in Chicago and nobody would have the idea to put a Spire on that one.

I don't think that would be possible. This tower is probably at the limit of what can be built on a site so small.

Yeah, your right, I forgot about the constraint of the site.

That's what the 911 guys were trying to do with that stupid antenna on top of WTC 1. They just had really bad aim with the planes.

I think the spire looks good in this rendering. Actually even better than it would have looked without a spire (but it would be ridiculous to count the spire to the total height of the tower).

Kinda awkward with a roof height more than hundred meters lower than the total height. But who cares, no tower (Russia Tower, Spire, Shanghai Center etc.) is even close to matching the Burj Dubai anyway.
Pretty harsh on the Chicagoans getting their dick chopped off, again, though.

According to Imre not much happening on site, just a few workers. I don't see this getting built, doesn't make financial sense based on the prices they sold the apartments at (expensive but when you have only 2 per floor the have to be). Also with the fact that construction costs went way up it becomes even more difficult.
We'll see though

well, I really love this tower, and the addition of the antenna looks kinda good... but it is SO PATHETIC to add it only to be the first in the world...
i like dubai, but it's sad to see that it's capable of do the most ridiculous things to be the winner...

For me, there is only one hotel that is the winner in the world. And not only in height, but also in design, luxury, ... and that's the Burj Al Arab. The original symbol of Dubai, that made people become interested in Dubai.

oh, yeah, i know... I also LOVE the Burj Al Arab, and it´s my dream to be there one day... I mean, it's like the Opera House in Sydney, or the Eiffel Tower in Paris: a WHOLE LANDMARK, and in the opinion of most of the people, one of the best landmarks in the world...
but what I tried to say is that an antenna shouldn't does the work that the floors do on a skyscraper...
