Coming to Scotland at the end of June - need advice

Ahoy fellow forumers; traveling to the gorgeous country of Scotland at the end of June, a dream come true of mine that I've wanted to achieve for numerous years, and I was hoping to get some advice from forumers in here about places to see. I'm going to be in Edinburgh for a few days, take a train to Glasgow for a few days and then travel back to Edinburgh before I leave. While I'm in Glasgow, are there any day-trips or anything of that sort that I can take to go up to the Highlands (which I'm REALLY excited about seeing)??
Any advice about that or anything else/any other places to visit is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

sentinel - there's an almost identical thread to this about 10 posts down.
Another forumer is hitting wonderful Scotland, too, and some tips have been provided within that post!
I am jealous of your trip and hope you enjoy!

^ I just noticed that, thanks JEH-NYC; perhaps I'll bump into our other forum friend while there!

If you first arrive into Edinburgh by train as you walk out of Waverley Station towards waverley bridge you will possible get the greatest first impression of a city in the world? Edinburgh is desperately romantic and you will love it.

The best thing about Scotland IMO is the fact that within 40 miles there are two dymanic cities that are complete and utter opposites...enjoy yourself in Scotlan!!
