If they go the full 5 floors down (I think that's what they've bumped it to), then I think it would be; I can't think of an underground parkade that goes that far down.

Construction at Capital Pointe: http://youtu.be/NQmVqZqkPc0?a via @YouTube

Video Link

Looks like they are close to being done putting the pilings on Albert Street when watching the webcam. That will only leave the north side of the lot to finish. I would assume the next step after that is to start digging down?

I came across this yesterday: it appears Stephenson Engineering is the firm responsible for the structural design of this project:

Also, Capital Pointe has a reasonably active flickr account the past couple months where they post pictures of the construction progress. Here's the link to their photostream:

Can't remember if someone said there was ground floor retail included in the design of this project or not...

Apparently they have been asking around town about who needs a lot of fill.

I don't know why they'd need to ask around, I'm sure Lyle Denton would happily take more.

What's the process for digging 5 stories deep? Do they dig it all out at once after they are done shoring the north side of the lot?

Lots and lots of activity today on site. As of yesterday the Twitter account said excavation has begun. Two trucks at once being filled with dirt.

The views of the city and surrounding area from the 26th floor will be amazing! I hadn't really thought of it until today. Especially in the summer with all the green and in the fall with all the colour and of course the prairie sunrise and sunsets!

Large chunk of dirt has been dug up on the north side of the tower site from what we can finally see on the webcam.
