Paris and its inner suburbs


Courbevoie is a commune in the northwestern suburbs of Paris, France. It is located in the heart of the Hauts-de-Seine département, at 8.2 km. (5.1 miles) from the center of Paris. It is one of the most densely populated municipalities in Europe.
La Défense, Paris' business district hosting the tallest buildings in the metropolitan area, spreads over the southern part of Courbevoie
Land area : 4.17 km² 1.61 sq mi
Population : 80,710
Density : 19,355/km² 50,130/sq mi

Super! La Defense is probably my least favourite part of Paris, but these pictures show that it has far more exciting and innovative skyscrapers than most American cities.

It is just a nice residencial area near la Defense.

I was looking for a thread like this, depicting the modern area of Paris, which I knew existed somewhere! If I should go to Paris again, that's where I'll go, directly from the Airport, and skip all that old stuff!

Now, I'm guessing there's a modern area of Rome as well, but how come we never get to see it!!!

That is great! I like this part of Paris better than even some of the historic sections, cause it shows how a city can have both the best classic archiecture and extremely progressive modern areas to appeal to any kind of archiecture fan... I'm sure a lot of people in the world don't even know Paris has a section of the city like this. It looks great!

But it adds to the urban diversity of the metropolis.

There are some nice apartment building in Faubourg de l'Arche built lately.
Some look very mediterranean to me, very nice neigbourhood

These pictures bear a striking resemblance to areas of Shinjuku and Akasaka in Tokyo, believe it or not.
