The site of the structure is across the street from the entrance to the Masjid al Haram, which houses the Kaaba, the holiest site in Islam. As a result, the Abraj Al Bait Towers will have a large prayer room capable of holding nearly four thousand worshippers. It will contain a five-star hotel to help accommodate the over two million pilgrims who participate in hajj each year.

In addition, the Abraj Al Bait Towers will have a four-story shopping mall and a parking garage capable of holding over eight hundred vehicles. Residential towers will house permanent residents while two heliports and a conference center are to accommodate business travellers. In total, up to 65,000 people would be housed inside the Towers.

Previous Designs:

400m?

Old Design (2005):

485m.

Now Design (2007):

577m.

i was about to say....

although i wouldn't doubt it if it was real. that crescent is MASSIVE, plus the royal family could get it done if they wished. it'd be one of the filthiest apartments in the entire planet!

its: Jabal Omar Project. "Omar Mountain project"

its part of the mosque huge expansion (prayer halls) + towers and accommodation (hotel)

Jabal Omar project will house 12 hotels and that all of them have been signed off under management contracts with the Hilton, Hyatt and Marriott chains. I've taken the liberty of listing them all here for the sake of simplicity and easy access.

HILTON
496-room Conrad Makkah (2014)
516-room Hilton Suites Makkah (2014)
566-room Hilton Makkah Convention Hotel (2014)
865-room Hilton Bab Makkah North (2014)
865-room Hilton Bab Makkah South (2014)
806-room Doubletree by Hilton Makkah (2014)

HYATT
628-room Hyatt Regency Mecca (2013)
200-room Hyatt Place Mecca (2014)
200-room Hyatt Summerfield Suites Mecca (2014)

MARRIOTT
636-room JW Marriott Makkah (2015)
540-room Marriott Makkah (2014)
432-room Courtyard by Marriott Makkah (2015)
