It's possible it could be a 300 footer - I'm waiting to hear back from the developer. For example, 55 Public Square is 22 floors and 300 feet - this building has 3 parking floors with 18 office floors. Even though it's sited on a spot that's a little lower than the rest of the skyline, it should make a nice impact, especially with views from the north and west.

Great to hear. I hope they're smart enough to have plans for some type of roof patio. From Google Earth it seems like it would have a nice view of the Flats.

The Ernst and Young looks like it has a quarter roof patio but oddly only facing the NW (which would view the lake and old CG station). Probably wishing too much for them to build one with a view of downtown and/or the Flats too. Any more renderings available?

Anywho glad to hear an Aloft! Stayed in the one in Milwaukee, very modern and dog friendly, not too expensive ...pretty sweet. I know now where I'll be staying next visit if I don't crash at the folks house.

Im so happy to see this going up. This, the new casinos, the Medical Mart, new convention center, billions of dollars along Euclid Ave and in University Circle... I believe Im seeing the turning point in the city now, nowhere to go but up! Hopefully the momentum gets going enough to attract some more companies downtown, instead of having ones like Eaton flee to Beachwood. Put the offer back out for Progressive to come on in again!

This was a great week - due to a torrential downpour along with a traffic-tangling bicycle race through downtown on Thursday morning, I was running late for work. As I was about a block from getting on the Shoreway, caught at a red light, *this* came up the hill (it's the base of the tower crane for the Ernst and Young Building!):

And then today, much sunnier!

Agreed on all counts. IMO, Progressive would be the straw that broke the camel's back as far as declaring downtown 'booming.' We are going to be seeing a lot of people on the streets of downtown Cleveland very soon!

...

Have there been any updates on the next phases of the flats project?

^I thought I heard they were batting around the idea of building rental units (since the condo markets everywhere are in rough shape), but I don't know if there are definite plans.

Update from today:

Due the siting this building will either really stand out on the skyline:

Or it will do some nice infill:

Fyi, the crane is currently at 280' - at some point it will be jumped to 380'

^ thats always something i liked about the federal courthouse. viewed from the south (480 bridge) it stands soooo far out from the rest of the skyline, but yet from east or west, it fits right in there. im wondering where EY will fit in from that view, if it will fill in that "empty" spot or be an extension of the skyline to the west.

From the PR firm - this info is from the construction company: "293' above level 4 which is considered ground level." So it looks like they aren't including the 3 parking floors - that means it's probably 330' to 350'
