MILANO, Italia

Milan is the second-most populous city in Italy and the capital of Lombardy. The city proper has a population of about 1.3 million, while its urban area (the 5th-largest in the EU) comprises an estimated 5 million people. (Wikipedia)
I visited the city in August 2015 during the Expo 2015 together with my buddy Johann (many thanks to him). Unfortunately the weather was horrible.

But here we go:

I'm guessing this is to promote the transatlantic free trade deal, people. I find it cool. You know... Like "cute" as they girly people would say.

I would take anything to bring us all closer together, even when it'd first appear to be vicious to some extent, so I'm not scared of their GMOs and chlorine-washed chicken (lol, wut??), and I'm in favor of the free trade treaty. Let's be honest, a whole bunch of Euro companies would take a huge advantage of it.

The only thing is regulations should enforce tracking labels on food sold in malls, so you're still able to make your own choice. If you trust new technology, despite the risk taken by the corporations implementing them to a huge scale already, you don't fear GMOs. If you don't trust them, you still can buy organic products from our deeper European "terroirs", but that might be quite less productive, thus more expensive. It's all up to you, and I think anyone should have a choice in total awareness of what they purchase.

milano has a bigger scale than i previously imagined, along with some very daring and innovating contemporary architecture. but what's with the always ghetto-ass looking metros and commuter rail in italian cities?!

I've only been in Milan for a brief moment changing trains. Worth a real visit.

Italian cities have the amazing trait of mixing architectural beauty and ugliness, often on the same block. Maybe the contrast highlights the ugly.

Back to another Expo...Vancouver 1986. My only memory of the Italian pavilion was the Italian corporate logos. I hadn't been there yet at that point, but my main impression was "old country, using really good logos to appear forward looking."

I went back a couple years ago, when my mom was spending long periods of time there related to cleaning up the cruise ship that fell over. Visited several small cities/towns and chose Rome over Milan for the last few days.
