Dubai seems like the Mecca of tourism.

All they have now is some land and an idea...a concept. Nothing more.

All the models are crap. "We'll have dolphins here, volcano coaster there, butterflies in that corner, video games over there, etc." But no concrete plans, nothing.
Welcome to SSP Goldrusher......

Maybe browse the forum a bit and do a bit of research before going on how crap everything is......please educate us all from your expertise and plethora of information on how to build a theme park many times bigger, grander, faster, wetter, wilder and as expensive than anything that has ever even been concieved before.

There are concrete plans in place and there has been for a while actually!
Well, when I say concrete they can be fluid to any changes like no other country can because they don't get bogged down by politics or red tape, so if you write to the developers really quickly before they build something you don't like, or worse still, put something in the wrong place!

I actually agree with goldrusher. Instead of becoming the ultimate destination as per concept, it's become the breeding ground for the worst projects in dubai. There's no coordination between the projects other than where they will go, also the focus isn't on entertainment anymore but on just creating more apartments. Look at each project and you'll see more than half of the space dedicated to apartments or houses.

If someone were to stay in a hotel in dubai what would make them choose to stay here (which is from the city and the beach) rather than go for somewhere near the marina or downtown? Al Bawadi is the only project so far which really has entertainment as a core element rather than an aside. Too bad there are replicas there though.

Also Dubailand is just waaaaaay too big. if it was a tenth the size of what it is now it would be OK but at its current size it's just not feasible. This would not need 15 million tourists a year but more like 100 million to sustain it.

Well I am actually not that sure anymore if these buildings will be in a smaller scale. The Empire State Building and Chrysler look as if they will be built 1:1

Looks like "Tire World" is coming along nicely. Now 10-15 meters tall (unofficial)!

Prove me wrong !

It's 100% amateurism at the moment. Where are the concept arts, the blueprints, the renders ?
All the theme park announcements I have experienced begin with concept arts (drawings, paintings, sketches), then a masterplan is worked out, with blueprints as a result. Based on those, a maquette (model) is made to give the average Joe a look at how it will eventually look like.

Dubai...seems to start with the models. And because they have no blueprints yet, the models are crap. Too small to be a worthy theme park and very unrealistic.

Goldrusher, AltinD has very kindly answered for me. This is probably 1/10 of the developement going on there!

This is not pipe dreams and whimsicle planning, this shit is being built right now! Please just accept that this project does kinda kicks ass and we'll say no more about it!

Slugbelch, those 'Medusa' towers are crazy......I love it!

Yep. Can't wait to see construction pics of Bawadi and the replica towers getting built.
