This is very ambitious and, if built, the economic benefits would be huge. (Not to mention more practical. Moving building-size ships through the ocean isn't very cost-effective.)

No, kiddies, this isn't a tunnel to drive your SUV through and go catch some rays in a foreign country.

The U.S. used to have ambitious projects when there was more pride and drive. Like this, this, this, and this. Now our cities can't even rebuild themselves greater like they used to.

Americans have replaced drive and ambition with comfort; bicker over school prayers, abortion, affirmative action and other narcissistic cultural rules and regulations to control eachother's neighbors. Other countries are laughing at our political correctness and "living-in-the-past"ness and are eating our economy for lunch.

Thank god, that all of humanity hasn't given up yet.
