To be fair, the DSA is constricted by what their members tell them to say, so it's not terribly accurate. I looked through the list an about had a hernia...project statuses way off, project values (including my own firm's) off by multiples...the magnitude is about right but the specifics aren't. The hotel category in particular is way off, as 2,000 rooms are underway and they reported a fraction of that.

Looks like its height is 1,029 ft and the design is pretty good too.

Regarding the proposal for the new tallest. I'm don't really like it. It's looking like they are searching for a winning design but coming up empty.

Is it likely that the FAA will approve the height of 4/C? Last I read they were asking them to cut a couple hundred feet off of it.

This is the usual SOP of the FAA. They ask or give these recommendations, studies are conducted, further studies, and a compromise.

The FAA sometimes does get its way or not; as seen in other U.S. projects, the developer has a good chance of coming out the winner. Not to say that sometimes FAA action results in height chops, but they usually approve most developments at the height proposed. Even in FAA heaven, Miami, the same trials and tribulations occurs.

A tower such as this, given the proximity of Columbia, will not be a big deal, once the studies are conducted and a evaluation is made. But like anything else, the FAA has to go through the routine.

Some skyline shots from Queen Anne - there's a lot to see from up there right now. In the second photo you can even see the new Hwy 99 tunnel north entrance.

The funny thing is this view used to expose the last of the gaps in urban fill within the greater downtown area. But now SLU and Denny Triangle are to be completely filled in - some highrises (~400ft) included. It already looks full, but there are still a few blocks left here and there. Even for someone who pays attention to all of the activity and lives/works in the middle of all of it, it's still shocking when you see it from a different angle.

What a phenomenal photos, especially the last one. It wasn't that long ago that the fulcrum of Downtown was near the left edge, and the right-hand half of the highrise zone wasn't even considered Downtown proper.

I love the highrise trend. But the lowrise trend might be even more impactful over the past few decades. The foreground is showing pretty serious density.

And my god...this spring and summer a good number of highrises will appear that don't show much now. And more after that based on recent starts. Figure 11 towers of at least 420' that are underway but not really tall yet, with the possible exception of the 200' core at Fifth & Columbia...

Personally, I'm more impressed with the inner midrise neighborhoods. To me, that's usually what makes a city feel more urban. When urban neighborhoods are connected and cohesive with the downtown area and each other and that's what Seattle is looking to be slowly but surely. It really gives cities their bulk and meat unless you're like Chicago or Manhattan where the downtown area is just gigantic anyway.

Greater Downtown is getting sooooo close to the 20,000 figure for housing starts in this boom. I'm including spurs up Dexter and Pike/Pine/Madison for an area of maybe 2,500 acres. My list is 19,305 that are at least preliminary starts with permits and some activity onsite. But not including a couple that have had activity then stopped, one with a tower crane and one that had permits and had only started demo.

I'm probably missing some as I'm generally out of date and incomplete east of I-5 aside from the larger jobs there.

A few others are getting close to permits. We could jump over the 20,000 figure quickly.

Plans for the site at 2401 Third Ave. in Belltown call for 116 apartments in a 12-story structure with retail at the ground level and four floors of underground parking.
