What the hell is that little box on the side, a tribute to the Skydeck? Ugly no matter how you try to spin it.

I like the idea of a cantilevered pool like that but the way it's designed breaks all the design "rules" of the tower.

Letting this 2 foot jut out ruin the building for you is a bit much, don't you think? It's an absolutely drop dead gorgeous building from top to bottom outside of .05% of its structure that is mostly hidden in an alleyway. I think we'll all survive this

It doesn't ruin the tower but it doesn't fit, design-wise.

About that cantilevered pool box, kinda agree. It's a real Lemmy Kilmister mole that is quite unnecessary.

Well there’s a lot of odd or unattractive features in architecture of any era. Fire escapes on ornate buildings, Mechanical penthouses , service doors. You just got to look past this stuff. The pool overhang seems to be in an appropriate area, plus the contrast in color allows the rigorous structural grid appear to continue on uninterrupted as if the pool overhang is nothing.

This thing is a giant from pretty much every angle. Can't wait for it to be fully painted and glassed up. Looks like it is almsot 700 feet tall now!

Looks like they’ve hit the first northeast setback.

This cluster in the South Loop is really gaining some strength with this building. It's crazy how different approaching the city from the South and South West has gotten in recent years. It's gone from a small bump in the skyline to an entirely new section that I can imagine the South Loop centering around as these megadevelopments nearby and other big lots get built on. One can almost visualize the buildings rising up around this grouping and creating another peak on par with the others!

Running on the south side of the lakefront path, I couldn't help but notice, now with NEMA, Bennett, and Vista, that at least from this vantage point, there will no longer be distinct peaks in the Chicago skyline. It will be instead like a comb, with many juts of taller buildings, forced through distance and perspective to rival the Hancock Center and 401 N Wabash.

It's a remarkable sight.
