My wife took these photos when we were coming back from Union Market on Saturday. The Seven H development will have 23 residential units and is located... wait for it... at the corner of H St and 7th St.

"Danny Meyer, whose New York-based Union Square Hospitality Group claims 28 James Beard awards, tells Washington Post critic Tom Sietsema he has plans to bring an original restaurant to Southeast D.C. next year. Sietsema reported in his chat last week that Meyer’s group is on board to operate a full-service restaurant and a rooftop bar inside the riverfront Thompson Hotel coming to the Yards Development (Tingey and Third Streets SE) near Nationals Park. Meyer tells Sietsema the new restaurant won’t be French nor Indian and won’t replicate an existing property in New York..."

The proposal from D.C.-based Redbrick provides for two residential buildings totaling 288 units, a 200,000-square-foot office building, a hotel with up to 150 keys, and up to 50,000 square feet of retail, plus 450 underground parking spaces. The buildings would surround a town square, activated by retail curated by The Museum's Greg Harrison, a Ward 8 native. Even in a city with as much development as DC has right now, it is difficult for a 3M SF project to fly under the radar. But CityInterests' 3.1M SF Parkside development in Ward 7 has done just that. At full build-out, the development will include up to 1,500 housing units for lease and sale, 750k to 1M SF of offices, 270k SF of education uses, 40k SF of medical offices and 50k SF of retail. The 26-acre site, across from the Minnesota Avenue Metro, was home to a failed townhouse development when CityInterests bought the parcel in 2004. (By: Jon Banister, Bisnow Washington, D.C.)

The project is part of a longtime effort by the city to transform the now-razed Skyland Shopping Center into a mixed-use development. It is approved for up to 320,000 square feet of retail and 450 to 500 multifamily units. Rendering of proposed apartment addition. (Image courtesy of Urban Turf)

"More density is planned for Cleveland Park, this time just down the street from the Uptown Theatre.

Nicholas Development has applied to seek Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB) approval for a proposal that would add six units to 3432 Connecticut Avenue NW in the Cleveland Park Historic District.

Just two doors down from the historic Uptown Theater, a setback story and a habitable penthouse are proposed atop the three-story, 12-unit building, bringing the total number of apartments to 18. Four surface parking spaces would also be added to the rear of the building, which currently has no parking..."

I quarantined myself on Saturday because I was under the weather but my wife provided these photos of the Trader Joe's and apartments under construction at the former Holiday Inn on Wisconsin Avenue in Glover Park/Georgetown. The development will have 225 residential units.

When I was running this morning, I saw soil testing at the church at 60 I Street, SW, across the street from the vacant Randall School. According to SWTLQTC, a 186,000 square foot residential development is planned at 60 I Street.

"Edens has plans in the works for a new 300-unit residential development at Union Market.

The developer is working on the design for a residential companion building to the Union Market ("South") building at 1309 5th Street NE, with plans to file a second-stage PUD application. Hoffman-Madison to break The Wharf's second phase into smaller pieces

By Daniel J. Sernovitz
Washington Business Journal
Mar 14, 2019

"Hoffman-Madison Waterfront plans to award as many as four different general contracts for the next phase of The Wharf, the 1.25 million-square-foot follow-up to its Southwest waterfront mixed-use development slated for completion in 2022.

The team, which includes lead developers PN Hoffman and Madison Marquette, awarded a $300 million-plus contract to Balfour Beatty last month for the heaviest lift of the second phase, to include all horizontal and public spaces. That's a change-up from the project's first phase, where Clark Construction played the lead role valued at $457 million..."
