Ok. I'm all for the Clippers leaving staples center. and its BRILLIANT to set up shop right next to the Rams and now ridiculous Chargers. But. a NEW arena???? What's wrong with the Forum and its multi million dollar if not billion dollar makeover?. LA has a lot of Arenas/Stadiums/Fields, arguably the most in any city in the world....Do we need another one in the Basin ?? If they would have said the Valley or San Bernardino. Maybe. Hell, Move to San Diego, that would be great. But. Another Arena in Inglewood. Away from most direct access to mass transit. Seems like that can go either way, especially since they will always be second rate to the Lakers no matter how many wins they get.
Are you serious? The forum is a concert venue now and in no way can keep up with the current arenas being built. The forum underwent a $50 million renovation. That's nothing in the sports world.

The Clippers most certainly need their own arena. It's a smart move.

The better part of this is that Crescent Heights development is now very wise to the shit that Silverstein et.al. throws. You can bet that this project is fully lawyered up and has all of its I's dotted and T's crossed.

Right. Why would the Clippers move from the (newish) Staples Center to a 50 year old arena? That's a bad business move.

Whoa, calm down folks. The MAIN point of my post was the question of do we need another Arena in the Basin. We would LIKE another arena but do we NEED another arena. Especially for a team that has been a dud for decades and is currently being supported by Laker fans, for obvious reasons...

Point. Most of these arenas that don't have the luxury of having 3-5 teams housed in them (Staples center) are banking on endorsement deals AND concerts AND award shows to bring in the extra revenue during their off seasons. we currently have 2 stadiums under construction ? maybe 3? This would be 4? all fighting for extra money during the off season? What happens to those that don't get lucky with a gig during the off season?

Its amazing how every time I make a comment/opinion. People quickly get sarcastic, defensive and upset instead of just responding with their own opinions or an educated answer .

Well that's how forums work. Someone says something. Then someone responds.

Los Angeles is large enough (geographic and populationwise) to support multiple arenas in multiple areas. Plus, it would create two clusters of sporting venues:

LA: Dodgers, Lakers, LAFC, Kings
Inglewood: Clippers, Rams, Chargers (and Galaxy down the way in Carson)

From a business standpoint, the Clippers sharing with the Lakers and being across the street from LA Live and all that jazz is great. If/when they move to Inglewood and being across the street from Inglewood Stadium and the Forum, great. It creates a whole hosts of ideas.

For example: Wrestlemania. I'm a wrestling fan and the idea of Wrestlemania in Los Angeles (a wrestling hotspot) is too much of a good thing. Since the WWE likes to make a week out of Wrestlemania, I would book the week as such:

Raw (Monday): Staples Center
Smackdown (Tuesday): Honda Center
NXT (Wednesday): Galen Center
Thursday and Friday: Wrestlemania Fan Axxess (LA Live)
NXT Takeover (Friday): Staples Center
WWE Hall of Fame Ceremonies (Saturday): The Forum
Wrestlemania (Sunday): Inglewood Stadium
Raw (the following Monday): Inglewood Arena

LA tends to book it's arenas and stadiums for multiple events over the course of the year. I don't see much of a problem with the Clippers moving. If anything, it'll help them distance themselves from the huge shadow of the Lakers and really set their own identity in Los Angeles. Plus, once the arena is built, I wouldn't rule out the notion of the Ducks thinking about moving either.

I'm just educating you. The Forum is a far worse situation for the Clips and would put them in a serious disadvantage against the rest of the league. LA as a whole may not necessarily NEED another arena but if Balmer is willing to build it himself it will be just another added benefit that would not hurt the LA area in anyway and will be another boost for Inglewood.

Balmer likely isn't too concerned about concerts. He just wants his Clippers to have complete control of scheduling. He's currently 3rd choice at Staples. it's a good idea for the Clips to get out of that shadow.

Plus. The Ducks aren't doing as well as it can in Anaheim. If this thing gets built with hockey in mind, it can be something for them to look into in the future. Yet another added possibility.

I prefer the previous design better - the tower was more slender and sited on one side as opposed to spanning the entire width of the lot - but aesthetically this isn't bad at all.

Is that Neon or LED? Has a Retro twist. With all the bland buildings going up it would be great if Neon made a comeback and Hollywood is the most likely locale for that to happen. It's almost on par with the Polo Towers in Vegas.

^ Haha! Yes, both of those are great. Build them. Build them now.
