Future Center City Development

side note - there was some discussion earlier regarding vacant / derelict lots around City Hall. It appears this proposal at 13th and Market may gain some traction and go through the pipeline. Not a super-tall by any means but will certainly contribute to the overall density center city needs, especially with the other nearby developments under construction. Looking forward to this one.

Nice pics.

The Parkway is a beautiful thing, isn't it. And the Parkway is the best place to view this masterpiece. I would wager that that first picture was taken in the early morning, am I right? The early morning light, if you ask me, makes everything look better. The pic with the Art Museum reminds me of the ending scene of Creed when Adonis and Rocky go to the stairs in the morning.

Also, the Mormon Temple is spectacularly lit. Those Mormons seem like fantastic architects.

I love this city.

I'm really excited about this project but wish it was a little more flashy or had something more than a glass box design.

Well ... it does have diagonal beams giving it a zigzag effect.

and a light up "latern."

With FMC and hopefully a decent lighting scheme here, our skyline at night has taken big steps forward. I just wish the Liberties would do something to make there light brighter.

PS. This will force networks like ESPN and NBC to update their skyline shots of Philadelphia for sporting events.

I was referring to the building going in on 13th and Market. I love the design of the CTC. Anyone else notice that the new glass going in on the top floors is different than the rest of the building? I haven't seen that in a rendering.

From webcam today, and pictures above -- the roof of the hotel skygarden is beginning--closer to 18th Street (lantern is on 19th Street side -- still work to go on that side before it reaches the top).

So in 30 years SkyScraperNerds are going to look at this picture and say "OMG Schuylkill Yards didn't even exist back then!!!!" That is if people are still saying OMG in 30 years.
