Brooklyn: upper 3rd, 4th and 5th ave

I got a new holga 35mm camera for christmas and used part of my roll walking around the warmest day so far this year. Most of it is 3rd and 4th ave by the gowanus canal but some of it is from prospect heights where i live.

Nice. Gotta love film. It can be tough to work with sometimes, but opening up a batch after developing is like opening presents.

I have never even seen that building. wtf? It looks amazing. That building would be a landmark in almost any other city in the U.S but NYC, nope, its just forgotten. Amazing!

That building is the old Williamsburg Savings Bank building, the tallest I think (for now) in Brooklyn. It's a landmark. It's not forgotten by any means. Alas, it has been converted to condos for the uberrich.

You're lucky to live in Prospect Heights. What a beautiful old neighborhood.

I think they converted the top 10 or so floors and the rest is still commercial. They have yet to find a business to fill the huge bottom floor and I doubt they will any time soon. I read the other day that they jacked the maintenance on the apartments by 17%.

Prospect Heights is a great area but I'm currently unemployed and my next job will most likely not be much above minimum wage so chances are I will be moving to Ditmas Park, Crown Heights or closer to Sunset Park. All great areas and just a 10 min or so extra into manhattan.

Thanks for sharing an area of Brooklyn I haven't been in, at least that I can recall.

Probably not as those who don't usually try to get their dog to dump by the parked cars so they are not caught and fined!

awesome. a 35mm Holga? is it custom? i thought they only ran in 120, which was part of the appeal...you can shoot medium format.

I went to the flea market inside that building last week - yummy asian hot dogs in the basement level.
