One of my favourites going up anywhere.

Great vantage point to watch the construction. This is a beautiful design.

I agree. Especially once it starts getting tall and they shift the camera up. Its really good quality. Probably one of the better webcams out there. But in terms of the city itself, its just so damn impressive. Great architecture, and great urban implementation within a reasonable timeframe. Theres still that potential supertall to keep our eyes on. Even with the redesign, I'm hoping it will stand out. Seattle deserves an iconic supertall.

I love big towers on small sites.

It's only possible due to the low parking ratio. Normally a Seattle tower with 550,000(?) sf of office and 150 hotel rooms (going off memory here) would have about 600 parking spaces, but this is 290. In some downtowns it would have more like 2,300.

There's a small-scale tower of that design on the books for Vancouver (Seattle's is bigger and makes a better statement), and there
are several like that in Toronto, too. It's not a unique design, but it's snazzy.

Does anybody know what that large excavator/thing on the left side of the webcam is working on? Is it installing a caisson? ( post #101 )

There are three excavators on site. Which one?

At least one of the excavators would be used to remove piles of dirt as the drill rig brings it to the surface during the drilling operations. The drill rig will drill some number of feet, then come up to the surface and deposit the dirt before going back into the hole to drill some more. The excavator will remove the dirt pile left by the rig.

This one is ALMOST there. Once we see that first caisson installed we can move it to under construction.

Perimeter shoring is for excavation, and is not structural construction, which we need to see first in order to move a building to the under construction sub-forum.

Don't worry, it's probably no more than a week or two either way until this one gets moved.

Depends on the type of shoring. But I don't care when it's moved.

Two huge holes were dug in downtown just before the Wall Street economic crash. One of them is just now being re-dug after previous shoring and re-fill.

This thing will have to be completed before I believe.

How deep is the hole? How many sub-levels?

Why does that SLS promotion video say that this tower will be the tallest building in Seattle in 20 years? Are they planning on destroying a few towers?

Edit: Oh, maybe they meant that it will be the tallest built in the last 20 years?

Its promotional. Sounds better especially if its on their main site. They do it all the time for projects. Remember, its all about marketing, even if its stretching the truth.

Yeah, its just bad grammar used intentionally. Tallest completed in the last 20 years.
