It certainly does capture the 60s spirit in London, as well as what Dundas Street used to be: London's main street.

That was a great classic shot. I remember going to Simpson's all the time.
Parked at the old car park above the market, go to Simpson and then do the Dundas til Clarence and then head over to Wellington Square and Eaton's. After that go to Say Cheese or Mother's Pizza on Wharncliffe and then go to a movie at the Century, Capitol, or an interesting artsy flick at the New Yorker on Richmond.
That was downtown heyday. Sometimes it seemed the whole city was crusing sown Dundas on Friday and Saturday nights.

Excellent image. Was there too. An outstanding 20 minute display that I would expect to be national-class. The extra trailer of mortars on the bridge was a nice two-dimensional touch. Excellent crowd as well.

There was a particular munition used at the end that was a dazzling magnesium flash followed by a thundering percussion. I thought at the time that this might be the closest that I (thankfully) get to actual war.

30,000 people got together and zero problems. Some people may call this boring, but most places in the world would call that heaven. Oddly enough, this was very much unlike the traffic anarchy (and recklessness) seen a few hours earlier over European soccer.

To highlight my evening: went with a friend and had dinner and drinks at one of the finer downtown restaurants... then went down to Harris Park and watched "After The Lounge"... then went to the former APK and had a pitcher... returned to the park for fireworks... and then drinks over the campfire at a private residence with the last two groups to play that night. A very nice evening.

here is a nice one from TVC15 on Flickr. It shows both fireworks, and the city's newest skyscraper.

That's my old neighbourhood. For such a busy street, Oxford between the Thames and Adelaide is actually half decent. Most houses still have lawns and trees despite the road being wide and lined with utility poles. A treatment similar to what Horton's receiving would make this stretch fairly attractive.

Here are a few pictures I posted in the 500,000 thread a week or two ago. They're from City Hall last September during Doors Open London. By the way, I'm fairly certain you can visit the rooftop patio any weekday at noon if anyone's interested.

Wow! Great skyline pictures!

I really like the second one. That's an angle I have not seen before!

Great pics! Brings back memories as a kid going to the old, real, covet market. Always remember the mechanical horse, the parking garage with the loop to get up and the musky smell of the place.

I took this photo the other day from the roof of City Hall using my brand new iPhone 5 and the built-in panorama function. Me likes it.

^Excellent photos, and amazing panorama LondnPlanr!
That's great quality for a phone, you should post that in the Great Canadian Skyline Thread!

I'd like to go up to the top of city hall sometime. I guess anyone can just visit the rooftop patio at noon?

Anyone can go to the rooftop of City Hall during operating hours. (I think from 8-4:30 or so on weekdays)

I'm not certain that this is accurate. I need my security badge to open the door to get out to the patio. The door isn't just 'open to anyone'.

However, if any of you want to get up there to take a few shots at lunch one day, then let me know. I can let us all out there.
