Whatever you may think of this, I really really doubt this will go beyond piling.

Dubai is building some of the most unique and interesting buildings ever seen - I think that's why some people think they're ugly - they're just not what people are used to.

Yup, people are used to the square boring boxes. I also think it's because there are so many unique buildings in one place it...

a) makes for a weird and different skyline
b) people get jealous
c) both

Now I'm not saying that every building in the city is a masterpiece, but many are really good looking. People judge on them because they're being built in Dubai.

There are worse buildings in Dubai than this.

I think it looks great.

Your opinion is just different than mine. But you are certainly entitled to it.

I like it too. The crown is very inventive, evoking a desert flower with steel and glass, not all too unlike Gehry's Disney Hall in Los Angeles, which does it using stainless steal. It just does it atop a 108-story glass tower.

The top reminds me of the Sydney Opera House (orange peel petals, sails)

Dubai may be the first city in history where a building is built to a whopping 1,673 feet, a height unthinkable in all except the most major of the world's cities, and it becomes only the second-tallest building in the city.

Dubai never ceases to amaze/entertain me.

The thing I like most about this tower is how it will bring Burj Dubai into perspective, a lot less monolithic. I think this will really hold together the skyline.

It's not very close to Burj Dubai, but when you are approaching the city of Dubai from outside or looking towards the coast from the outskirts of town you should be able to see both towers. I think this is about 2/3 the height of Burj Dubai, which is a nice ratio.

I think it's ok but would look better without the flower fins at the top.
