i really love hw the harmon is the sky - not reflecting the sky, but actually has it 'pixalated' on the facade - up close its randome tints of blue, from afar it looks like a mirror pointing to the sky - real clever

Great pics of the dam bridge. We were there in 2006 when the crane fell in the dam. Took us 8 hours to get back to Vegas the long way round!

i can't believe how far out the arch ribs go without anything to hold them up. I know they'll start using support cables attached to the temporary columns when it gets further out, but i didn't think they could go this far w/out any type of support!!

Well, those photos are a month old and I drove over the dam Friday night (on my way back from a month-long vacation ) and they have started installing the cablestays to the temporary masts, but it was too dark to photograph.

Cosmo latest announcement

This just in the L.V. Sun and RJ

Deutsche Bank brings in Related Cos. to develop Cosmopolitan
"New York-based Related Cos. said today it has been brought in by Deutsche Bank to head development of the foreclosed $3.9 billion Cosmopolitan project on the Strip.

Deutsche Bank continues to own the project under an affiliate, Nevada Property I, and will continue to oversee coordination of design and construction on the Cosmopolitan.

Related does not have an ownership interest in the project at this time."

This is just the first of several announcements that will be made regarding new developments at the Cosmopolitan. My source has been pretty good, he said that there would be major annoucements this week, as I posted at the time.

Laguna, thanks for the heads up. That would indicate to me that they intend to keep the Condo contracts intact and Related Group will manage that aspect.

Disappointing.

The Palazzo condominiums will hold the St. Regis brand in a deal with Starwood, accroding to WSJ.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1220...googlenews_wsj

There are several St. Regis Residences developments in the U.S. and international markets, but they are in combination with a standard St. Regis hotel.

I'm guessing that Sands will utilize a portion of the condo complex as a St. Regis boutique hotel and make the units on the upper floors the residences.

There is no hotel component to The St. Regis Residences at the Venetian Palazzo. This is a pure residential condo project and is expected to be very high-end with butler-style amenities.

The announcement of the partnership with Starwood's St. Regis brand and Sands Corp. is great news for this property and the Strip.

It seems the new owner of the Cosmopolitan, Dueutsche bank's newly formed company Nevada Property 1 LLC will now allow buyers currently under contact to assign them to new buyers if they want to get out, the problem may be finding someone willing to buy the units in this market.

Something that may help get buyers out of the contract is they will not sell anymore units (for now) so it is possible some of the foreign buyers who wanted to purchase units but could not because of the foreclosure will scoop up some unwanted contracts, just speculating though.

For those who still want to close but may have a hard time finding a bank willing to lend on a condo-hotel they are attempting to find a preferred lender that will lend on them.

Also, I feel like they are hoping to slowly move forward and will push the estimated completion date to Q4 2010 in an attempt to out last the credit crunch giving buyers a better chance to secure financing. This could work, but not much if interest rates increase while they wait...
