This development will be more than simply a Walgreens. It will have about 17 businesses, including three restaurants. Walgreens will occupy less than 20 % of the total square footage of this three-story miniature shopping mall, currently known as Harmon Corner. As of a couple months ago, the plans were to open in time for Christmas. Whether or not that happens, time will tell.
The unfinished Harmon hotel tower at CityCenter on the Las Vegas Strip would likely collapse in a strong earthquake, a structural engineer told casino operator MGM Resorts International on Monday.
The report sent to the casino company by Weidlinger Associates of Marina del Rey, Calif., says it would take at least one year to figure out what kind of repairs would be required to save the tower.
"In a code-level earthquake, using either the permitted or current code specified loads, it is likely that critical structural members in the tower will fail and become incapable of supporting gravity loads, leading to a partial or complete collapse of the tower," said Chukwuma G. Ekwueme, an associated principal of Weidlinger.
Its sad to see that the Harmon Hotel was designed by Foster+Partners (one of my favorite architectural firms) though has been going through so many woes....

Plans for a $400 million dining, retail and entertainment plaza on the Strip dubbed Project Linq resurfaced Tuesday night at a Paradise Town Advisory Board meeting.
The proposal for a 325,000-square-foot outdoor corridor of bars, restaurants and shops between the Flamingo and O’Sheas was first envisioned by Caesars Entertainment in 2006, but the project was slow to get started because of the economic downturn.
The project would also give the facades of the Imperial Palace and O’Sheas a facelift and would be anchored by a 550-foot Ferris wheel.
I've driven past the Smith Center a few times and noticed a new building being constructed on the property. I wasn't sure what it was, so did a bit research. Here it is.

that walgreens / retail mall its looking more and more substantial - i am very excited for it now - that whole intersection will be the most energetic spot on the strip
