Oh it sounds great. Just a big surface for lighting really. Just the image and use of the word "RAINBOWS" (outside of the cultural reference that may be entertaining you) is soooo juvenile. A bad word choice by a reporter I take it. Hearing the other "Sinp" about Pink Floyd tells me it might be cool!

Yeah...it certainly gets the reader interested.. lol. Something with a collection of colors sounds awesome. I'm all about some groovy pink-floydesque/lava lamp wall art.

There.... you should have written the article. That makes it sound so much more appealing. It sounds like the article was written by someone who didn;t like it.

It's basically a large dividing screen that will take light well. I actually like that you can see thru it a bit and get a sense of the industrial materials that are behind it. That should make for some great photos!

On what to suggest, I don't really know. Since I live mostly in Austin, it is pretty easy to see what I want. lol. But you will have a fresh eye and hopefully notice what many of us who see Austin every day may miss. Have fun!

Oh, go visit Ahealy at the Violet Crown on 2nd! That will probably be new to you. How long has it been since your last visit?

Edit: If you are coming next month, you coming for South By? If so, lots of people pictures! South By always has great people picture opportunities. =)

As an Austinite, I am going as far away from Austin as I can for that week and will be in London. lol. (Not that London is ever not busy and crazy) Have fun!
thanks for the comments and for posting that picture. I'm really excited going back to austin and using it there. I'm actually pretty familiar with Austin as having lived there for 12 years. It's been since April of last year that i moved so it will be almost 1 year. And yes it's gonna be around Southby... I'm staying with my parents so I will pay $0 for my stay and food.

I'll be there for an entire week and will be taking lots and lots of pictures all around Austin and all the people. I'll be sure to visit Violet Crown... that place opened up right when I moved so I didn't get a chance to check it out.

This rendering just shows one side. The three other walls which will contain the AE plant will be lime-stone/masonry. We were presented this idea at the Downtown Commission, and the consensus was this project was mediocre at-best.

The design team on the project was given regular feedback about making the entire project more pedestrian friendly and better integration into the design of the Central Library.

One flaw in the design which particularly annoys me is the 5' pathway adjacent to the "rainbow". There's some infrastructure behind the future wall that the design team said absolutely could not be moved inward to provide a broader path. It was never explained why.

Overall, I'm glad AE & AIPP is taking this on - they didn't have to and we could have ended up with a CMU block wall.

Lightbulb

The Callaway House Austin is at 505 West 22nd Street.
Google Earth shows a parking lot at that location.

Well we will have to wait and see how it turns out, sometimes the rendering doesn't do the justice.
