I had no idea that Chic-Fillet management hated gays. I love their their chicken sandwiches, but despise the fact that they are closed on Sundays. I'm a staunch atheist who would like to eat their delicious food on Sundays. Does anyone have a good link to their anti-gay activities or any other right-wing moral policing?

people are talking about development and giving their reasons why they are not supporting a certain development. i think they are totally on topic. why would you support something thats backed by a group of people who tell others what to do with their lives?

I think I'll stay right here, thanks. After all the name of the thread doesn't say "disgruntled liberals mad at the world and all the "inequality" that lies within" so maybe you should check out another thread, just saying... So what else is in the works in ATX?

Who ever wants to know can goole Chic Fila and Gays and do theri homework. Not doin it for ya. That would perperuate this. It is an easy google.

And sorry I cant' let this go by......

I will speak for myself and say I am rather pro-active and far from disgruntled or mad at the world. And might I also ask: why is liberal used in a disparaging way to someone who may happen to support the rights of minorities, That should actually be the most basic of a conservative tenant. So please be aware of how this turned into a political debate. Serveral of us.... me included, were speaking of the negative impact of a developer on a culture. ( (Not to mention what a shity suberban drive thru that will end up there instead of a multistory multi-use building if this rumor is true)
Racism and any other "bigotry" is NOT POLITICAL ..... is about someones life. And I would be glad to speak against any development that has an aggresive bias against anyone. Straight white male dominate culture inculded.
So lay that to rest.
Asking the curious question is useful.

Sorry for the rant. This isn;t just about iron and steel.

Being closed on Sundays seems like it would have one advantage.

Assuming hourly employees are working standard 40 hour or less weeks with 2 days off, this means at least one of everyone's days off is the same day. That's more time where everyone is there is on one day. This is really important, in a fast food setting if you have a bunch of workers but they come in and do their job individually and then leave it creates a "I'll leave this unfinished and bob will do it later" culture. To get people to take responsibility there needs to be a get it done attitude, that can only come from teamwork and pressure from fellow workers(not managers or leaders).

Gonna have to admit, I've never been in a nasty Chick Fil A before. A few I've seen have had shitty service, but by and large they are really nice. The real reason why I never go there is because they are always really crowded and you have to stand in line to refill your drink.

Always joked I should start a atheist version of Chick Fil A and get rich taking the business of all people they alienate.

why not just start something completely opposite of Chick fil a, like sell organic and unprocessed foods that aren't cancer ridden.

I've thought of doing something like that. why aren't there fast foods that sell vegan and raw foods? that oughtta change the way we eat or think of fast foods in some way.

My sister goes to Chic-fil-a a lot. But I never tell her my opinions why I think that place is terrible. I dunno, there's always some correlation with something being back by "religious dogma" and unhealthy eating. if anyone pays attention, Golden Corral always attract people on Sundays after church. I should know. I love Golden corral! haha too bad there ain't none here in california.

I totally agree with not adding another high fat/high calorie/nutrient deficient fast food chain restaurant to Austin. I graduated with a degree in nutritional sciences from UT a few years ago and it disgusts me to think of all the garbage that goes into fast food.. Sadly this is what's driving the childhood obesity rates through the roof, "people" say chick-fil-a is healthy bc they use peanut oil to fry their food in. Sure it's healthy compared to McDonalds but compared to other Austin cuisine its trash

I hope we do.
Projects we'll see break ground this summer:
1. JW Marriott
2. Seaholm
3. Austin SkyHouse **The developer told me they plan to break ground in June or July
4. Manchester
5. Green Site (?)

That's leaving out several other high/mid-rises currently under construction.
