It may be going slow, but at least this once dead space has something very attactive going up on it. Progress is good, even if it takes alittle time.

Is there going to be steel going all the way up on this building like comcast? Or is the steel we're seeing only going to be on the first level? I am having a hard time understanding why Murano is going up so much faster than this building. The core itself is pretty small so one would think it wouldnt take long to complete a floor.

There has been a lot of progress today to report. The words won't do it justice but the structural perimeter of the building is now being formed and it looks great. The core has gone up a floor as well. Someone please get a camera out there!

I don't mind having a sister building on the left coast, at least ours was first. I guess it could be worse the Ritz could be the twin of Symphony house.

I hadn't been by there lately until this afternoon and I was surprised to see steel beams up to the first floor. I'll get some pictures tomorrow.

Here's one, taken about 20 minute ago.

Not really the construction, but I like the crane.

Thanks for the photos metro. I think while this building is still vertically challenged it is easier to see the progress from the sky with all the angles and details.

By the way great photos of city hall, now that this building is clean (almost) it looks absolutely amazing. I remember not too long ago being embarrased by it. Now if they could only keep the observation tower open later and do something with the courtyard and plazas.

A unit looking across to City Hall would be great. The way the building is positioned, it looks like many lower floor units will have unobstructed views of one of the most architecturally significant buildings in the city. Imagine stroling your living room and glancing out the window and seeing the clcok tower.

The workers took off the entire Memorial Day weekend (unusual for them not to work on Saturday, but everybody deserves a long weekend now and then).

However, it appears that activity is picking up rapidly. It seems that there are a lot more workers on site and the progress is very noticible day to day. This may just be because all the workers who've been toiling below ground are now working above ground. Can anybody confirm?

I'm going to start making a weekly aerial photo update every Friday evening. Its easy this time of year since the sun is still up when I get home from work.

Thanks Metro it seems as if the aerial photos will be best to see the progress until this thing rises a few more floors. I'm thinking the observation tower of City Hall would be a good vantage point.

The ritz website sucks as far as updates go, the latest photo is a picture of the banner that they put up on the hotel.

concrete forms

I spoke with a construction worker today who informed me that the current concrete forms (on the core of the building) are only going to be used for 1 more floor and then the new hydraulic forms (similar to the one's on Comcast) will be used from then on. I'm not sure why they used the manual forms this long but I'm sure there is a good reason.

The pace of construction should improve a lot after the new hydraulic forms are put in in 2 floors time. It really is starting to look like a building now.
