the jokes on you.

wanted to buy a condo in miami, but bought one in dubai marina instead. It was a no brainer. These condos sell like hot cakes. The only real joke is americas economy, if I inveted in miami, my condo would be worthless now. By the way looks like the up coming 1400 meter Al Burj next to dubai marina will have Trumps involvement, not bad.

I still don't believe that it is technical possible to build a 1,400 metres high building...

This is the Marina thread, not the Tall Tower thread.

Looks like some good progress, I really do hope they fix the roads and put some malls or open markets down in the streets though, looks wayyyy too sterile down there.

The designs already look dated. Dubai will be the definition of urban mediocrity.

I disagree.
The whole will be better than the sum of its parts... and a few very good ones will be among the spectacular cluster.

^^ That road in front of the massive podium isn't actually there in reality. It was just put in for the model but the roads are behind the towers and all along the marina's edge is pedestrian only.

Anyway some pictures by Imre:

Ocean Heights:

Sulafa Tower

Marina Pinnacle

Elite Residence

Mag 218

The Torch

Princess Tower (ugh, really crap cladding)

23 Marina

Marina 101

It's amazing to witness the construction of a whole, hyper-modern city.
Thanks for the updates !

Pictures of the marina 101 site. Only from the 2nd of June but are close ups.

Massive tower coming soon by Tameer (same developers as princess tower and elite residence) coming soon. It won't technically be part of the marina but will be very close. The design should be good unlike princess towers, etc since they're having a design competition.
It'll be located where the hard rock cafe is. The cafe itsself will stay I think but there's a lowrise hotel next to it that's going to be demolished. The location is on the right of this picture where that small ESB like structure is.
