Photo Contest #44 - Shallow Depth of Field [voting]

Absolutely unbelievable turnout everyone. Every photo here is straight out of a magazine. Spectacular. I have no idea which to vote for. Happy voting and enjoy the eye-candy. #14 is a dual-photo entry

Yep, this contest brought out some nice photos.

Thanks for spicing them up with the borders, too.

Amazing collection of pics. Seems these contests just get harder and harder to choose. I'm going with the urban/scraper theme of #7, but there's certainly many other I would be happy to see win.

wow, #10 is sharp and lit well...

sometimes it's about what's actually in focus as much as there is out of focus and that one KILLS. there isn't a sharper image in the whole lot

I looked at them several times also, but for some reason #2 kept coming back to me.
Simple yet colorful.

No. 1 caught my eye because of my love of dance music and my interest in nightlife photos. But the winner in my eyes is No. 7. The composition, color and skyscraper theme is amazing!

I guess I don't understand the topic. In #7 the green in the stoplight is crystal clear but it would be better, I believe, if the out of focus part of the picture began elsewhere on the stoplight. The building and crane are so far away they should appear to be out of focus regardless.

I like 7 as a picture, the framing, color, very nice. But for this theme I would say 1,2,3,4,6,10,11 and 12 cover the theme better.

Those are pretty much my thoughts on this. #7 is a great picture, but it's not the greatest example of the theme. I really don't think people take the theme into account much when they vote in these contests.

No reason to apologize for a great photo. I thought I had this one nailed with f/1.2, though

Well, great round everyone. Really cool stuff and great uses of shallow depth of field. Congratulations Ninjatune for the winning entry. So what's next Ninjatune? As long as we close entries by next Tuesday, I can get the contest up without any problems, otherwise, I'll be disappearing for the holidays.

I'm disappointed my F1.4 pencil crayons didn't place better, but oh well.

Here's the list of participants. Great to see some new and less regular names:
1) BroncoCSU05
2) HomeInMyShoes
3) flar
4) gripja
5) i_am_hydrogen
6) 1ajs
7) Ninjatune
8) Plantboy
9) MJPhilly
10) fangorangutang
11) Lsyd
12) Upward
13) Architype
14) GR2NY
