The Lovejoy/Fugjoy | x feet | 16 floors | U/C

next to the Pearl Safeway, the complex is apparently called The Lovejoy, not just this apartment building.

I'm confused--is this project taking up two blocks or just one? I've never seen the rendering above, just the safeway one.

two blocks, the office component with Safeway, and the apartment tower next door.

The reason you haven't heard more about the apartments is that they cleared the planning committee easily and the Safeway had to do major reworks.

from the rendering, the apartment building looks to have an incredible street connection for peds and retail. At least it appears the developer understands the importance of that connection, unlike 937 which looks to have a terrible street level appearance.

the safeway tower has been approved now in the 'green latern' style, hasn't it?

I cant say I'm a fan of this building's exterior but I agree it appears it will have a great street connection with lots retail and activity and it will be great to see that parking lot developed.

The design is so boring and typical for the area. It will add a lot of homes to an area of the Pearl that needs it, but the design should step it up.

^I'd like to see other renderings. It appeals to me in an odd way and I haven't yet figured out why. Everything I see tells me this is fugly, but than there is something I like...

It certainly isn't original or daring.

I think it's the lower street facing portion. It has that "urban village" look that connects to the street well. The tower however (or L shaped slab) is fugly in a major way and looks completely out of scale.

I think the street level of this building is really strong, and especailly like the loading-dock style walkway on the left. The tower is so-so, bleh, nothing special whatsoever.
