A tour of Albuquerque, NM

I don't think I have ever seen a thread devoted to Albuquerque on SSP so I took it upon myslef to compile an eclectic mix of photos to display The Duke City.

Downtown

Uptown

Journal Center Business Park

Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

Views from afar

Rio Rancho (suburb to the north-west)

New city hall under construction in the boonies

New arena for minor league hockey and events

Albuquerque as seen from Rio Rancho

Sprawl with ABQ in the distance

Various

My first two attempts at a pano

I was there 2 years ago, but never really saw downtown. It's probably the only city I've been in where I didn't get to really see the skyline. We changed from I-25 to I-40 just north of downtown and the concrete divider on the highway blocked my view. I just caught a fleeting glimpse of the Albuquerque Center. From what I saw of the rest of the city, Albuquerque looks like a pretty town. I'd like to get back there sometime. On the bright side, I did get some postcards of the city.

More, more, more! There are occasionally some Albuquerque photo threads on SSP, but they are definitely few and far in-between (hopefully this will change ).

Would love to see some street-level shots of around downtown ABQ, and Nob Hill areas. Great pictures of a great, rising city.

Very nice job man. I grew up in ABQ, and I still visit often, so I your photos felt very familiar to me. You got some nice angles. Is that night time city shot from the Westside or from the NE Heights? It's hard to tell.

You have to throw in some pics of Old Town Albuquerque, it's a pretty cool area. I drove through Albuquerque on Rt 66 on my cross country drive and it was interesting coming up to it because it is a little oasis in the desert. The area surrounding Albuquerque is completely deserted for miles, and then BAM, Albuquerque.

Thanks for the replys and comments everybody.
More pictures are definately on the way, mostly street level. I actually live in Las Cruces so this limits my ability to photograph Albuquerque, but with winter break looming, there will be ample time for another expedition (or two).

- To Jeeper - that shot was taken in the NE heights from the the Sandia Tramway parking lot.

As for the panos they are actually much larger, but when I upload them to imageshack, they are automatically reduced and I cannot seem to adjust their size. Any help is appreciated.

Nice! I love the ABQ! I applied to grad school there (but unfortunately, so did a bunch of other people...) Beautiful city, beautiful state. Wish I were there now.

Cool balloons. Albuquerque is underrepresented on this forum, I think. Keep it up.

Cool, representing from Las Cruces eh.

You should post an El Paso picture thread some day too. This little corner of the country is so unrepresented that it's silly.Good to see Burque on the map!

I really wish I had had a digital camera when I was there there the last time. I would have gotten atleast some pictures. I ran out of film, money, time and energy by time we got to Albuquerque. I remember it being beautiful, though. I had to change a flat tire there also on my uncle's trailer. That was fun! [/not]

Sure looks nice, like others have mentioned AlbeQ sure is underappreciated i agree with that, damn good looking lil City though, with maybe one littel exception, the night time illumination seems to be trying to hard imo. Like Reno NV Casino type scene or something? I don't know? Not trying to knock it it just seems kinda over kill on the lighting... Maybe if the city was a hair bigger to compensate for some of the lighting it would work, don't mind me, to be truthfull i wish Denver would take a few que's from AlbeQ and light up some of our damn buildings imo our downtown is do freakin dark! It pisses me off, oh well Vhad-da-ya-do?

Some truly badass stuff in this thread! I'd like to see a larger version of those panos if they exist.
