It looms as much as the originals.

Don't feel like looking for my 3D glasses, someone tell me if this works...

The true impact the Freedom Tower has on the skyline is best seen away from it. The perception of the skyline always depends on your vantage point, but when those large West Side towers start to rise, some may appear slightly closer to the Downtown skyline than the Empire State and Midtown itself, erasing the "gap" that appears between the two.
(Depending on your viewing point of course).

That was such a great story on NBC Rock Center last night. 1 WTC is the world's most expensive building at $3.9 Billion and it's also the safest.... It has the thickest concrete in the world.

This is the new reality in a post 9/11 world. I wish it didn't have to be that way, but it is what it is. The featured ironworkers on the episode were very emotional and put a lot of pride into constructing that building. This makes the building even more special.

A good friend of mine works as media director for the PA. He played a prominent role in that Rock Center piece.

Nice. Let him know they did a good job. The info on the building wasn't anything new for those of us who visit the skyscraper sites, but I definitely enjoyed the talks with the ironworkers.

Like they said it in the CBS special just a few moments ago,1WTC is very much like a middle finger.World Financial in step formation on the left and the WTC in step formation to the right eventually both sides leading to the tallest,1WTC.

Isn't that steel for the central core, not the outer steel?

Those are the core columns, not taller yet. Give it another week, or two.

The first time I ever saw NYC with my own eyes was from this view, Unfortunately it was post 9/11 & I rember being sad the skyline was so short compaired to
all the pre 9/11 NYC images that had been burned into my brain from posters, postcards, Movies, etc.
What a different view this is from what I saw 5 years ago, I'm glad the skyline is finally back.

I was one of those who were bummed at first that twin buildings would not be rebuilt.....but after thinking about for awhile its appropriate,
we all lost something that day, and single tower is a good reminder of what was lost. It looks like something is missing from NYC.....and it is.

By the way, I'm 99% sure this photo was taken at the Twin Lights of Navasink in the Highlands of New Jersey,
what a wonderful place to sight see. Lots of cool history on that site as well. http://www.twin-lights.org/
The Sandy Hook lighthouse can be seen in the foreground. on a clear day you can even see the paratrooper ride
at Coney Island from up there.
NYC Guy thanks for posting the photo , I appreciate it.
I cant wait for the final WTC building to be fully built & the whole rebuilding process to be "finished"
