The best part about the cladding installation now is it has at least 5 more floors to go before it hits any netting. Hopefully those 5 floors will be done in about 3-4 weeks. I remember it took them about 1 week to do a floor. Now it seems they can knock out about 3 floors in 2 weeks.

Looks like some floor beams are going up behind the top of the cocoon. New columns very soon, methinks.

They showed part of that time lapse on CNN earlier today. Old media is finally realizing that theres a building going up here, lets just hope they stop spreading the name "freedom tower" and only call it one world trade center.

It will rise on Monday April 30, 2012. Weather permitting of course, and so far it seems to be. The forecast for Monday in New York City calls for temperatures of 63F, little wind, and lots of sunshine so I am certain that it will happen.

As the World Trade Center Approaches Tallest-Building-In-New-York Status, Watch It Rise in 80 Seconds

Everyone has been eagerly awaiting the topping out of 1 World Trade Center. While that milestone is still a few weeks or months away, as early as next week, the SOM-designed, Port Authority-built tower will surpass the Empire State Building as the tallest in the city.

In honor of that occasion, Earthcam, which has been monitoring the site with great fervor, put together a timelapse of the tower’s rise.

That's awesome! I'm definitely going to looking out for that.

Why can't NYC schools be closed for such an event? I wished it were. I did head to the World Trade Center to get pictures.

Nah, it doesn't matter. Most kids are going to take filed trips there anyways. I believe 1 WTC should be the tallest in May 1,just to prove ol' Bin Laden never stopped American determination to come back. As his grave sinks deeper to the ocean floor, NYC is rising higher like never before.

Hah, they should have dumped him over the Marianas Trench - that way he'd be the first to get sucked back into the mantle

A friend of mine just told me that the Space Shuttle Enterprise (riding piggyback on a modified 747), will fly over the NYC metro area somewhere between 10am - 12 noon on the way to JFK. It's flight path is believed to be north up the Hudson, a U-turn around the Tappan Zee Bridge, south down the Hudson & arriving at JFK.

Does anyone think that they might be able to capture a shot of 1WTC w/ the SS in the same shot ?? That would be one seriously cool pic.

Info on the flight path can be found @: http://nycaviation.com/
