I do like that the glass pops out as if it were flowing in the wind as it increases in height. I'm still trying to get a sense of its translucency and how it will work on the tapered edges.

Yes. Exactly like what I said. This base pays some sort of homage to the base of the Twin Towers. The vertical lines, the box shape, and etc.

I think, another user on this forum said he saw a load being delivered that looked to be the length of the base glass.

Mabye Alan can tell us if the podium glass has arrived. Or he wants to surprise us when it's installed.

Painting the base steel

Noticed that that diagonal red steel columns in the southeast corner have been painted gray or something similar.

Yes I have noticed that, but I'm not quite sure what is it for. Another question I have is if the podium is going to be a square, aren't they going to put the corner steel columns in on the base?

I am certain that the grey stuff is concrete to protect the steel. They will probably also work on the base to make it more squarish looking. I don't know how they will do that. I will let Otie answer that.

A spokesperson for the Port Authority confirms to GlobeSt.com that the tower will surpass the Empire State Building’s height of 1,250 feet on Monday, making it the tallest building in New York City. A formal topping out ceremony will be scheduled in the coming weeks.

Southwest corner looking north (from Fulton Street).

No need to, the slanted columns forming the chamfering are designed to transfer the loads with no problem. They're going to fill the space with non-structural steel.

I imagine the sign would be akin to what they have in the lobby of 7 WTC.
