They'll try it again from the ground first before they try to hijack another plane again - seeing as the gov't is on to them now more than ever.

Hell, the last few plotted attempts to bring down a plane by any terrorists have been foiled. Now they seem hellbent on going after stuff they figure are easier targets like subways, truckbombs, buses and the like.

Should an attack such as the one that occured on 09-11 EVER happen again or ever be plotted again, then something would be definitely wrong and the gov't would once again be held accountable!

One thing is for sure, if (GOD forbid) terrorists destroy the new WTC, you won't see anything taller than a blade of grass be built on that site again. This is why security needs to be at top priority. I am glad to see that is the thinking for this site.

Whatever scrutiny for terrorists is planned for the WTC needs to be planned everywhere, especially crowded places like Penn Station, Grand Central, even stadiums and malls. The terrorists got lucky with the WTC. It's not nearly as hard to take out people in other places.

Especially the spot where the Freedom Tower is being built. Probably because of the snow making it look that way.

The moderators should put a portal to the FT from the New York thread.

Hey when did Freedom Tower get up to 108 floors? Did they add floors to the 200ft gap at the base?

Don't know. Always known it to be 102 floors.

If so, then that's even better!

I think they're counting the base as 20 floors or something ridiculous like that.

No, your actually the first one to ask. It should be completed by 2011-2012.

Any chance the Freedom Tower will be done by September 11th, 2011 (10th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks)?

I wouldn't be shocked to learn that they'll declare it officially open on 9/11/11, even if in fact there is more work to do...

Possibly the Freedom Tower. Now that you say that, I can indeed see that happening. Actually that would be a nice ceremony (remembering the lost and welcoming the new).

The rest ( 2,3,4,5 WTC) will not be completed at that time though.

Yeah, that is supposed to be the estimated target date, but provided there are no interuptions or delays that could snarl the project.

I hope it opens then though. Everything seems to be running smoothly so far. The word is out that another truckload of steel should be arriving soon. Probably after New Year's.

It's December 2007. We are more than 3 years away from 9/11/11. Why wouldln't it be done by then in the first place?

They'll declare it open when the first tenants move in - presumably from the state.
