It speaks for itself without having a dumb name like Freedom Tower. The building has had way too many design alterations and modifications to even be worthy of a name like "Freedom Tower".

Topping Out Ceremony

From the latest gzrobotic1 image, behind the bunkers: the diagonal white line is the topping out column? Also, four lights near the corners of the center vanishing hole in the nearby pool, haven't noticed them before (not one in the other pool).

If you check Gzrobotic early on the morning , you can see the 4 lights , seem that light are related to the washing-robot operate in the pool, maybe for the robot to prevent dropping into the small pool ???

Yes, the topping out beam is white. The ironworkers were told they will only be working until noon today and then have to leave the site.

New WTC Base (it can be done!)

I like the general exterior of the revised base for WTC1 but greatly dislike the elimination of the signature chamfer. So with a little Photoshop hacking I came up with a better design!

No they didn't! They just dropped the morse code. Now the beacon has a more consistent and farther reaching beam of light. One change that was for the better... as I said above your post.

They could make the base diagonal surfaces out of something with a surface like black marble, that way they don't have to figure out what to with the fins or whatever in those areas.

It's not going to happen because of security concerns, but maybe they can chamfer the corners to give it the former Twin Towers feel.

How is this the topping out beam? They haven't even built the 105 floor, nor the parapet.

The 105th floor is the roof slab. I don't know if this column will stand on the core columns or the outer columns. The core columns are now just above the outer columns. Does this column take us to 1,334 or 1,368'?

^ Exactly. 1WTC will not top out today just because the media says so.

EDIT: NBC says the tower will be T/O on July 4.
EDIT2: Obama will sign the topping out beam but it won't be placed today.

Does anyone know how tall the core columns are now above the lobby?
