Final crane jump?!

Also, wow, look at how high the cladding is now on 1 WTC. I see the cladding is beginning to climb up the east side of 4 WTC. Looking veeeeeery nice!

I don't know guys. I'm over the whole spire debacle. There is nothing we can do now.

I'm almost certain that it will have a light show similar to Conde Nast and Bank of America. At the very least it will have the alternating colors.

I hope they follow up the spire lighting with some LEDs on the mechanical floors so they can light those up similar to the setbacks on the ESB. You just need three groupings to provide three levels of different colors. In the latest renderings it looks like they just rendered them with plain old office lights, but I hope that isn't their final plan.

Also, thanks NewYorkDominates for including me in that list of great posters. I try. Haven't been as active recently and I didn't have a chance to make it to NYC this year. Plus Otie and the other wiseguys always answer people's questions before I can get to them. :p

Don't believe any excuse offered for the Spire change other than saving money. All the other reasons such as maintaining the Radome and safety in high winds is all bogus. The CN Tower in Toronto has had its antenna covered in a similar material for nearly 40 years, with no failure, damage or high maintenance costs. Even if 1 WTC ditched the faceted, geometric, spiraled panels and went with a simple Radome like the CN Tower's, the spirit of the original design could be maintained, without all the drawbacks Durst and the gang claim to exist.

There will be multicolored LEDs lighting up the spire/mast; that can be controlled. 5 Star electric is installing them.

Will glass installation be done faster now that it has reached the parapet?

All they have to do to the "spire" is add some more external members to make it appear "fatter" and then all will be good. That is something that should be feasable and doable at a minimum cost. Who knows, maybe SOM is working on this even as we speak.
