Center City Philly unveils the downtown Gift Card

I was thinking our downtowns should do something like a gift card, to compete with malls. And it looks like Philly has actually done it.

Center City Philly which is in charge of reviving and keeping Downtown Philly strong, has just started a gift card program. Below is the information. Great idea.

-------------------------------------------------

People to please? Give them the Center City Philadelphia Gift Card – the shop-around, dine-around, all-around town card they can use everywhere Visa® debit cards are accepted, including the hundreds of Center City restaurants, shops and hot spots that make our city world class.

Available in amounts from $25 to $250 at these TD Banknorth Center City locations. Make sure you pick up enough to go around.

1100 Walnut Street

Use your Gift Card to take advantage of these offers:

The Center City District (CCD) is a business improvement, or special services district, supported by mandatory assessments on real property and governed by a private–sector board.

The district encompasses 120 blocks and more than 2,100 properties. Click here to view a map of the district boundaries.

The CCD was founded in 1990 when over 2,000 property owners, commercial tenants and employers in Center City Philadelphia, along with the City of Philadelphia, agreed to establish a private–sector business improvement district committed to keeping the downtown of America's fifth largest city clean, safe and attractive.

The CCD is an omnipresent entity downtown and one of the few benevolent omnipresent entities you'll find anywhere. They most certainly do their part.

I've seen the ads for the gift card but I won't be picking any up until the weather gets a little more...human-like.
